About us

The Logos Centre is a specialist unit within Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.

We deliver evidence based treatments including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, eye movement desensitisation & reprocessing and family therapy for a wide range of conditions. We offer a range of groups including those with sleep problems and survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We review and advise on psychological therapy and medication combination.

We also offer vocational guidance including provision of information on learning and work opportunities, individualised advice tailored to user needs and guidance to increase awareness of the opportunities open to them and recognise their own strengths, abilities, preferences, limitations and areas of development, so as to enable them to set realistic and achievable goals.

Training

The Logos Centre is a leading provider of foundation level CBT courses in the Northern region. The unit runs several training programmes on a regional and national basis, from introductory to intermediate level. We also liaise with regional and national experts to conduct workshops and collaborate with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies to organise training events.

The CBT training is skills based, with the focus on jargon-free teaching. The cognitive theory of beliefs and meaning of experiences, and the behavioural theories of learning are blended to provide students with a cohesive template for skills development. The training is devised to encourage application of CBT principles in daily work.
